Rajshahi district of Bangladesh

Rajshahi district of Bangladesh

Short brief history of Rajshahi district of Bangladesh

Rajshahi  is a district in north-western Bangladesh and Rajshahi is a also Divisional headquarter. There are ten rivers in this district, totaling 146 km in length. The main river is Padma River (Ganges). Some others are Mahananda, Baral and Barnai river.
Rajshahi has been regarded as the bread-basket of Bangladesh. Recent agricultural modernizations with the much-lauded Barendra project has increased crop-diversification, allowed farmers to access better analysis of their farmland's chemical composition, and generally allowed farmers to grow as many as three crops every year instead of the usual one crop. Moreover, agro-processing is also thought to have an extremely bright future in this region of the country; industry experts predict that gas connection with the rest of the country will allow Rajshahi to fulfill its true potential and generally emerge as one of the most economically vibrant parts of Bangladesh.

Pabna district of Bangladesh

Pabna district of Bangladesh

Short brief history of Pabna district of Bangladesh

Pabna is a district in north-western Bangladesh. It is the southern most district of Rajshahi Division. Archeologist Cunningham conjectured that the name Pabna might be derived from Pundra or Poondrobordhon civilization, whose capital was Mahasthangarh, the oldest city of Bangladesh, in neighbouring Bogra. But this hypothesis has not received general acceptance among scholars.
In 1859-61 the district was one of the major areas involved in the Indigo revolt. Beginning in Yusufshahi period in 1873 the serfs resisted excessive demands of increased rents by feudal lords (zamindar), led by the nouveau riches Banerjees and Dwijendranath Tagore, by forming an Agrarian League. This largely peaceful movement found the support of the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal George Campbell (1824–1892), who antagonized the absentee feudal lords. These protests are generally referred to as Pabna disturbances. In the following year the district was one of the worst hit by famine.[1] The peasant's demands were finally partially met with the Rent Law Act of 1885.
In 1875, Raaygonj was transferred back to Pabna from Bogra, and in 1879, a separate judgeship for the districts of Pabna and Bogra was created.

Naogaon district of Bangladesh

Naogaon district of Bangladesh

Short brief history of Naogaon district of Bangladesh

Naogaon is a district in Northern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Rajshahi Division.Paharpur is a small village 5 km west of Jamalganj in the Naogaon district where the remains of the most important and the largest known monastery south of the Himalayas[citation needed] have been excavated. This 7th century archaeological find covers an area of approximately 27 acres (110,000 m2) of land. The entire establishment, occupying a quadrangular court, measures more than 900 ft (270 m) and is from 12 to 15 ft (3.7 to 4.6 m) in height. With an elaborate gateway complex on the north.
Kusumba Mosque is named after the village of Kusumba, under the Manda upazila of Naogaon district, on the west bank of the Atrai river. It lies inside a walled enclosure with a monumental gateway with standing spaces for guards. It was built by a high-ranking official named Sulaiman, during the period of Afghan rule in Bengal, under one of the last Suri rulers, Ghiyasuddin Bahadur Shah. The inscription tablet is in Arabic, with only the word 'built by' in Persian, dates the building to 966 AH (1558-59 AD), and is fixed over its eastern central entrance. Although built during Suri rule, the mosque is not influenced by the earlier Suri architecture of North India, and is well grounded in the Bengal style. The brick building, gently curved cornice, and the engaged octagonal corner towers are typical features.
