Short brief history of Gawader
Gawader is the part of Balochistan and Balochistan province of Pakistan. The Baloch people of this area originally reffered to themselves as Maka.It is from this that word Makran, the original name of Balochistan is drived.
The region remained on the sidelines of history for a millennium untill the Arab. Muslim Army of Umar captured Makran in 643 CE and over the intervening amount of time the area was contested by verious power. The Gawader was visited by Ottoman Admiral Seydi Ali Reis in 1550 S. In 1783, the Khan of kalat granted suzerainty over Gawader to Taimur Sultan, the defeated ruler of Muscat. The Gawader fort was built during Omani rule. In 1958 Agha Khan iv purchased the Gawader enclave from Oman for 3 million US$ and gave it to Pakistan and it officially became part of Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan integrated Gawader in to Balochistan province on July 1977 as the district headquarters of the newly formed Gawader district. In 1993 the Government of Pakistan formally conceived the plan to develop Gawader into a major port city with a deep sea port and connect it with Pakistan Highways and rail network. On 22 March 2002 the Government of Pakistan began construction of Gawader Port.
