Texila meaning city of cut stone. Texila is a most important archaeological in Rawalpindi Distt. Punjab province of Pakistan. Its strategic location, Texila has changed hands many times over the centuries. In 1980 Texila was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Texila is also described in some detail in the Budhist written in Sri Lanka around the 5th century. Texila had great influence on the Hindu and sansikrit language. Texila is a mix of wealthy urban and rural environs. Texila has many educational Institutes including University of Engineering and Tech. Texila Museum dedicated mainly to the remains of ancient Texila.
